Opening Paragraph: "The Western Peloponnese is as diverse in character as Greece itself; every facet of the Greek landscape, every period of Greek history is represented there. Bordered on the east by the imposing mountain ranges of the central Pelopnnese and on the west by the inviting shores of the Ionian Sea, this once inaccessible region stretches from the steep mountains of Achaea in the north, through the gentler hills and plateaux of Elis, birthplace of the celebrated Olympic Games, down to the fertile plains of Messenia in the south."
Random Passage: "During the Games, an international 'truce' was declared so that competitors from all over Greece could take part. Competitors had to be Greek and free men, though Romans were admitted later. Women, slaves and barbarians were excluded, even as spectators."
Notes: A nice, informative brochure—undoubtedly a souvenir of someone's trip from years past.
