Notes: The Scarlet Ruse served as the 14th book in a series with MacDonald's most memorable character, cynical Florida private eye Travis McGee. The McGee books each sported a color in the title, spanning from The Deep Blue Good-by (1964) to The Lonely Silver Rain (1985). As a bonus, I'm also including a bookmark produced by bookstore chain Waldenbooks to promote the paperback edition of Tina Turner's 1986 autobiography I, Tina (co-written with Rolling Stone journalist Kurt Loder).
