Goodreads Review Excerpt: “This was an extremely pleasant, if not compelling, book. A classic cozy book. I wasn’t crazy about the seance idea, but it served a purpose in the plot and wasn’t overly emphasized. I fell in love with the characters of Major Burnaby and Emily Trefusis. I didn’t mind the absence of Christie’s famous characters like Poirot or Miss Maple. I also loved how small and isolated the town of Sittaford was. I wish there were additional books with this town and its inhabitants!” — J, February 17, 2013.
Notes: This edition Murder at Hazelwood (originally published in the U.K. as The Sittaford Mystery) was part of Dell's “Mapback” paperbacks which paired intriguingly lurid front cover art with detailed maps on the back covers. Although the mapbacks covered Westerns, Romance and other genres, they have come to be associated most strongly with Mysteries. As a bonus, I’m including two other spooky vintage Agatha Christies—The Hollow (Pocket Books, 1948) and The Hound of Death and Other Stories (Pan U.K., 1960).
